About Us

Jody has decades of experience in newspapers, as both a writer and editor. She worked for more than a decade for the Houston Chronicle and Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Her writing has appeared in numerous other publications, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, Inside Sports Magazine, etc.

Jody also spent several years as an adjunct professor in the journalism department at the University of Houston.

Jody holds a journalism degree from the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.  She also holds a law degree from South Houston College of Law.

We specialize in working with high school juniors and seniors on their college application essays.

We are also available to work with students or adults to help write and edit papers, resumes, etc.

Please note:  We are NOT an essay writing service.  We are tutors.  We do not write papers or essays for students, but work WITH them to help guide them through the process and teach them to become better writers.

Also note:  We are not college application counselors.  We do not help match students with colleges, nor do we guide them through the application process.  We work only on the writing aspect of the application.

After many months of essays, applications and more essays, my daughter was at a loss to put her thoughts on paper when asked to write an unexpected essay.  We contacted Jody to schedule an essay session.  After 90 minutes, my senior walked away with her best essay yet.  It touched every point she wanted to make.
